If, however, you prefer to do most of your research on your own, we have put together this brief guide to help explain to you which components to look out for in selecting the perfect gaming computer for your needs.
With any gaming computer, the most important part to consider is the graphics card. The graphics card is the powerhouse behind any true gamer’s machine. No expense should be spared (within reason) so that this part is maxed out. In choosing a new StealthMachine, make sure that your graphics card is powerful first and foremost before putting your money anywhere else in the machine. In order to power the graphics card, however, you want to make sure you have the right power supply. Plan on purchasing an extremely powerful primary graphics card now so that later as prices come down you can throw a second card in there to breathe new life into the system. The power supply is the part in the machine which should be overpowered in order to allow for maximum upgradability. It would be a significant drain on your financial resources to buy an underpowered power supply at first only to replace it a few years down the line when you need to upgrade. In choosing a case, the important thing to consider is that you will be looking at the thing for a very long time. Unlike other parts in the system, cases do not wear out. Choosing a case that looks good and allows for maximum wire management will impress friends and family as well as keep your computer room from having a giant eyesore. The processor and motherboard are a one-two combination that should be decided upon together. In choosing a motherboard, you want to make sure that the processor you select for it will be one that you can live with for quite some time. Generally speaking, the act of upgrading the processor also involves upgrading the motherboard due to the fact that the two must be the same chipset in order to communicate with one another. Keeping this in mind, it is prudent to invest a little more in a processor and motherboard combination that you do not plan on swapping out any time soon. Liquid cooling on the processor is a must these days as now more than ever processors produce too much heat per unit area to risk it. The memory is a part which you can afford to pay less for now. You only need 4GB’s to run windows, and memory is very easy to add in later. When considering memory, however, make sure that your motherboard supports a great deal of expansion so that you never have to replace that motherboard just to fit in more memory. Hard drives, while important, are like memory in that they are relatively easy to replace. You should only max out the hard drive specifications after all other components have been taken care of. All computers require a large capacity data hard drive, but if you have money to spare then an SSD is a solid investment. Read more about hard drives by clicking here.
