1. The graphics card is often the most expensive component in a workstation.  There are special graphics cards designed specifically for workstations which are very powerful.  What companies like Nvidia don’t want you to know, however, is that the gaming equivalent of nearly every workstation graphics card out there is pretty much the same graphics cards but for exponentially less cost.  The graphics cards manufacturers use the same hardware for both workstations and gaming computers, but they change up the driver code only slightly to optimize for workstations.  While there are specific applications for workstation graphics cards, by and large a gaming graphics card can to the same or even a little bit better job for less cost.
2. You can use the money you saved from utilizing a gaming graphics  card instead of a workstation graphics card to beef up your other hardware.  In fact, you can get the best of both worlds by having both a lesser workstation graphics card in your machine for the aformentioned very-specific applications and let a top-of-the-line gaming graphics card do the heavy lifting.
3.
